Brandon Corvin was a young father with a dream of owning his own restaurant. His mother, and now business partner, Anita Corvin, wanted to help put his dream into action. Seeing the potential for growth in an empty parking lot, she bought the Whipple Dam Store. So it began. In 2003, Brandon, known to friends as 'Doan', served his first customers out of a mere fire pit and easy up tent. The result of Doan's desire to perfect his skills of cooking over an open fire was mouth watering barbecue and loyal customers. Within one year, Doan's Bones Barbecue became a full rib shack with a covered takeout area and picnic seating. In October 2006, Anita saw an opportunity to further this small seasonal business and partnered with her son. Thus came Doan's Bones and Ice Cream Cones in Centre Hall, Pennsylvania. Literally overnight, the old Frosty Stop was transformed into the newest branch of the Corvin's barbecue dream. With two thriving restaurants, the constraints of the original location became too confining. As of May 2008, Whipple Dam Doan's Bones has become an eat-in restaurant with full menu and wait staff, across the street from the original location, on the corner of route 26 and Whipple Dam Road. Picnic Seating and Takeout counter are also still available.
